Alliance & Alignment

Not every army makes a natural ally -- centuries of grudges, incompatible worldviews, and the Warhammer world's own long history of war mean some combinations hold together far better than others. Working out how harmonious an alliance will be starts with each army's alignment -- the age-old divide between Order and Destruction.

The Forces of Order

The Forces of Order share broadly the same goal -- building or rebuilding their own realms in peace and prosperity, even if "peace" is relative and they spend plenty of time fighting each other over borders and diplomatic insults. When a greater threat rises, they set their differences aside to face it together. The Forces of Order are: Bretonnia, Dwarfs, The Empire, High Elves, Lizardmen, and Wood Elves.

The Forces of Destruction

The Forces of Destruction exist to topple civilisation -- shattering cities, burning towns, despoiling holds -- and are no more unified among themselves than the Forces of Order, just as likely to turn on each other in service of a dark god, a scheme, or simple bloodlust. The Forces of Destruction are: Beastmen, Daemons of Chaos, Dark Elves, Orcs & Goblins, Skaven, Vampire Counts, and Warriors of Chaos.

Non-Aligned Forces

A handful of races don't fit cleanly into either camp, marching to war in service of Order or Destruction as it suits them. The Non-aligned Forces are: Ogre Kingdoms.
