Measuring Distances

Distances are measured in inches with a tape measure. You may measure distances and ranges at any time, for any reason -- including before declaring a charge or shooting, to check whether a target is actually in range.

Between two models, distance is always measured from the closest point of one base to the closest point of the other. Between two units, it's measured from the closest models in each unit. If a unit is resting on a movement tray, always measure from the model's own base, never from the edge of the tray.

Diagram showing distance measured between the closest points of a blue unit and a red unit, and between the blue unit and a red monster.
The distance between the blue unit and the red unit is 6" -- the Goblins are within 6". The distance between the blue unit and the red monster is 3" -- the monster is within 3".

When a rule calls for a unit to move directly towards something, draw an imaginary line from the centre of the unit to its destination and advance along that line the stated number of inches.
