Standard Bearers

A unit that fights beneath a standard treasures it as a token of allegiance, history, and pride -- and fights all the harder while it still flies.

Profile and Wargear

A standard bearer always shares its unit's own profile, and counts as carrying the same weapons and armour as the rest of the unit, even if the model itself is shown without a shield or with a lighter weapon -- assumed to have set aside anything too cumbersome to keep the banner aloft, its fighting prowess otherwise unaffected.

Combat Resolution Bonus

A unit that includes a standard bearer adds +1 to its combat result, as covered in the Combat Resolution chapter.

Standard Bearers and Casualties

A standard bearer can't normally be removed as a casualty -- even from an effect that targets a single model, like a Dangerous Terrain test or a Sniper attack -- unless only the champion (if any) remains alongside them, since another warrior is always assumed to catch the falling banner. If the champion is the only other model left, the standard bearer must be removed before the champion.
