Remove Casualties
Close combat casualties are removed the same way as shooting casualties -- from the unit's rear rank, so that a unit big enough to absorb a handful of losses doesn't lose any Attacks for it. Models that step up to fill a gap can still fight, provided their own Initiative step hasn't passed yet. If a model causes more casualties than it has enemies actually in base contact, the excess is still removed from the unit as a whole, representing the attackers fighting on over the fallen. It's worth not removing slain models from the table immediately -- set them aside next to their unit instead, since the casualty count is needed later to work out who won the combat.
